Clicking “Done” isn't clipping image.  Steps taken:

• Import .png image
• overlay vector shape (a square)
• select image and square
• right click - select create clipping mask
• Clipping mask appears to be working - anything outside the mask is “ghosted”
• arrange image and mask as desired and click Done
• Image is not clipped
