Having spent a few years in LB, and never finding myself losing/reverting settings mid project for layers, I find myself wasting SO MUCH TIME AND MATERIAL in Studio while building out a project, performing test burns and adjusting settings.
In the simplest of worlds, I'd choose “the” material and then the setting profile. Tell me what percentage of projects does this model apply to? I say none, other than tests.
I spent two days designing football plaques that consisted of 3 materials, 3 layers of mixed tape backings and inside/outside cuts for kerf adjustment - for “inlay”. For the record, I start in LB for design then import to Studio and do tests/adjustments … back to LB, rinse and repeat.
I suspect that I have to stop thinking of layers to help with settings. Anyone who knows where this is going has struggled with the challenges I'm alluding to. How have you solved it? Do I need to switch to grouping in the object list? Moving vectors to a layer mean nothing for settings. Creating new vectors on a tested layer means nothing. Constantly have to select layer … override all the “Mixed” settings to include the new vectors. Not scalable!
