Im using a P2 and engraving old roofing slate tiles. they have been sanded down with 220 paper to .2mm variance on a 100mm square. (coaster)
Im having an issue with the laser head. If I engrave at 100 dpi the engraving works fine. I typically raise the laser head .5-1mm above the recommended just for safety sake. (increase material thickness) My issue is if I run a coaster at 100 dpi it works fine. if I repeat it at 300 dpi the head crashes in to the work. Why is it dropping the head? Specifically, as I have increased the thickness of the piece, why is it trying to bury the head in the slate? I have 2-3 coaster that have come out and they are stunning but the head is getting beat up.
Thanks
