With the baseplate in place, materials up to 16mm can be auto-measured. For thicker or larger materials, the base plate must be removed, and that's when manual focusing is required.
Create a focus ruler by downloading and importing either of the uploaded project files into XCS. (The orange lines are for laser engraving, and the purple ones are for laser cutting.)
Note: Set the size of the image as required.
When auto-measure fails, a window will pop up with a notice. Click Manual-measure and proceed. The motors are unlocked, allowing you to move the laser module manually.
Move the laser module above your material and attach the ruler to it. Then, place the ruler vertically on the material, making sure the top of the laser module is within the scale of the ruler. If it's not, don't worry – just elevate your M1 to the right height.
✅Step 4: Take a reading of where the top of the laser module reaches on the ruler and input it in the XCS window. Then, click "Complete" to finish. Easy peasy!
Steps 1 and 2 are the same with Open Plane Mode.
Get ready to move that laser module! Attach the ruler to the laser and stand it up straight on the material. Make sure the laser's tip is within the ruler's range, or you might have to give your M1 a little lift.
Write down the measurement where the top of the laser module hits the ruler and enter it in the XCS window. Then, hit "Complete", you're finished!
