In the Different design – batch processing mode, you can achieve batch design and processing.
To be more specific, you can batch replace objects, including text, images, and vectors, of the original design. Then, you can batch process materials with different designs.
STEP 1 Connect the xTool P2S to XCS
(1) Use a USB cable to connect your device to your computer, and turn on your device.
(2) Open XCS on your computer. In the upper-right corner, click +New project.
(3) In the upper right of the project page, click the Switch device / Connect device icon next to the device name.
(4) Click Connect device. Select the device to connect.
Note: After connecting xTool P2S to XCS using a USB cable, you can connect in Wi-Fi or IP mode. Whichever way you choose, you need to connect it to your computer with the USB cable first. After connecting your device to XCS in Wi-Fi or IP mode, you can search for your device on XCS next time without USB connection.
STEP 2 Read Instructions before processing
After selecting the processing mode, the instructions will appear at the top of the canvas. Click on this slogan to learn how to process materials in batches.
STEP 3 Set variables
On the Set variable tab in the pop-up Batch design dialog box, the largest object is selected by default.
As illustrated below, the frame is the largest object of the whole design and is therefore selected by default.
If the selected object doesn't need to be replaced, click – Delete variable. Then, select the object to be replaced and click Add variable.
STEP 4 Import data
After deciding variables, you can batch import data or manually add data.
(Recommended) Use the template
On the Associate data tab, click Download template in the upper right corner. In the template, the variable information is automatically input.
In the file, ensure that the header content is the same as that on the Associate data tab.
For images and vectors, you need to enter their file names.
For text, you need to enter the specific content.
After entering all the variable information in the table, put the table file and all the vector and image files into one folder or compressed file.
Click Import to import the target folder or compressed file.
If you encounter an error tip after batch importing data as follows, you're advised to check the file content.
Check whether the header content is the same as that displayed on the Associate data tab. Only when they're the same can other content be recognized.
Check whether other content is correct. Content may not be recognized if the following exists.
Missing files
Inconsistency between file names and the file content
Unsupported table file, image, or vector format
Supported table file format: XLS, XLSX, CSV
Supported image format: PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, WEBP
Supported vector format: SVG, DXF
Damaged files
Mix-up of file names for images and vectors
Manually add data
On the Associate data tab, click Add and modify the content in the newly added row.
Note: When you import a vector file in the format of SVG or DXF to XCS, the whole object will be ungrouped. Therefore, please confirm whether you've selected the whole target object.
1.If you've selected a grouped or compound object, you can directly go to the Set variable and Associate data tabs and configure settings.
(1) On the Set variable tab, select the object to be replaced.
(2) Click +Add variable.
(3) Click the Associate data tab.
(4) In the table, click the target object.
(5) Click Replace vector.
(6) Select a vector from a folder to replace the original one.
(7) Click Confirm when you finished replacing vectors.
2. If you've selected only a part of the target object in the Batch design dialog box, click Close and return to the canvas.
3. On the canvas, select the target object and click Unite to merge the vectors.
4. Then, repeat steps (1) to (7) mentioned above to configure settings.
⚠️ On the Associate data tab, the header of the table is fixed. Therefore, if you want to process objects, don't change any content of the header. If you don't mean to process any object, you can change the header content.
⚠️ All the objects mentioned in the table on the Associate data tab will be processed. Blank rows or columns in the table will be skipped during processing. Please ensure that all the variables are properly set in the table.
STEP 5 Process materials
(1) In the Shoot the sample material dialog box, refresh the background and click Close shot to take a picture of the sample material. You can position processing objects based on the background.
(2) Select the objects to be processed and place them on the target material. Set processing parameters for the objects. Then, click Next in the Design object dialog box.
(3) When you use a user-defined material, you need to measure the distance between the material and the laser module. You can only use Aimed-measure here.
(4) In the Confirm objects to be processed dialog box, click Confirm.
(5) In the Frame out material dialog box, click Process.
(6) Press the button on the device to start processing. Processing requires a decent number of time, please stay patient in this process.
