How to Use Circular Array?

Updated Dec 31,2024

This tutorial is about using the Circular Array function in XCS. This efficient feature enables you to generate an automatic circular array for your design patterns (available for both bitmap and vector files). This way, you can create designs with symmetry and aesthetic appeal, optimize the utilization rate of materials and quickly preview the overall effect.

To begin, make sure your device is connected before running the grid array. This is important to validate the results for your specific device.

STEP 1

Create an element or import a design file (Both vector and bitmap files are supported).

Step 2

Set the processing type and all the related parameters. These settings will become the default value of the grid array.

Step 3

Select the element, navigate to the left bar, and click “Applications,” select "Grid Array".
Next, you will see a pop-up setting panel as shown below. While the current table carries default values, feel free to change the value according to your project's needs.
  • x represents the abscissa value of the center point of the circular array.
  • y represents the ordinate value of the center point of the circular array.
  • Start represents the starting angle of the circular array.
  • End represents the ending angle of the circular array.
  • Step represents the angular interval between each copied element.
  • Copies represents the number of elements that the circular array will copy and generate.
  • Rotate object copies determines whether the generated object copies are rotated. If enabled, each copy generated according to the rules of the circular array will be rotated according to the corresponding angle settings (such as step, start angle, and end angle, etc.); if it is disabled, the copies will not be rotated and will only be arranged according to the circular positions.

Step 4

Click 'Done' to generate a circular array on the canvas. This array is based on your parameter settings with an equal difference value for each element. The circular array is grouped automatically, but you can adjust each element individually by ungrouping it.

Reminders:

When setting parameters, referring to the recommended parameters for your device and specific material is important. If the parameters are extremely high or low, you may cause fire when processing. Also, please watch the device when processing.
