Remove the Enclosure of xTool S1

This guide applies to:

xTool S1 with all laser modules.

About this guide

When you need full access to the parts within the enclosure and the plates, you need to remove the enclosure. This is especially helpful when you need to troubleshoot these issues:

Due to the obstruction of the enclosure, it is quite difficult to inspect and replace the Y-axis limit sensor. Removing the enclosure would make it easier to perform these tasks. Also, since the connection port of the accessory is protected by the enclosure, you need to remove the enclosure to inspect or replace it.

Tools needed

  • The xTool screwdriver (comes with the S1 package)

How to do it

#1 Remove the baseplate

Please refer to the video below, or watch it here. It contains the steps on how to remove the baseplate.

#2 Remove the bottom screws

After removing the baseplate, you can find these screws around the bottom of the machine. Please use the screwdriver included in the S1 package to remove them.

#3 Remove the mainboard cover

Please refer to the video below, or watch it here

Note: Make sure you unplug the connection cable of the emergency stop switch shown below.

#4 Remove the round ports

Unscrew the two knob-like round ports right to the mainboard.

#5 Take off the enclosure

Now the enclosure is free to be removed. Please gently pull the left and right sides of the enclosure at the same time while you lift it. It's easier to do this with one person on each side.

#6 Locate the inner parts

Now the enclosure is removed and the inner structure is exposed. You can access the parts to inspect or replace:

  • The RA2 Pro connection board.
  • The Y-axis limit switch.
  • The Y-axis motor.

The picture below marks their locations:
