New Software Functions for xTool S1

This article applies to:

xTool S1 with all laser modules.

 

Auto-Focusing

  1. After connecting xTool S1 to XCS, the first step is to set the focus.
  2. Manually move the laser module closer to the material.
  3. Click the button on XCS to trigger the auto-focus process.
  4. After the focus is completed, you will get a focal length on XCS, shown below.

Note: Auto-focusing must be finished before other operations, such as measuring the engraving area.

 

Laser Module Position on XCS

S1 adopted an absolute coordinate system that allows you to see the actual position of the laser head on your screen, which negates the need for camera-assisted alignment, offering a more straightforward, accurate approach to defining your work area.

When enabling " laser module position", you will see a red cross on the XCS software indicating the position of laser module.

Note: xTool S1 adopts the absolute coordinate system, so the zero coordinates on XCS indicate the zero coordinates on the whole engraving area of xTool S1.

 

Measuring Processing Area

  1. Two-point measuring function" provides to measure of the processing area of your material.
  2. Click "Measure" in the lower right corner on XCS.

  1. Manually move the laser module to the left-top corner of the material. Press the start button on the device, and XCS detects the coordinates of the left-top corner.
  2. Manually move the laser module to the right-bottom corner of the material. Press the start button on the machine, the device will detect the coordinates of the right-bottom corner.

  1. After the steps above are complete, you will get the processing area showing on XCS as below.

 

Process on Curved Surfaces

You can use S1 to process materials with curved surfaces.

  1. Switch the engraving mode to "Curve process".

  1. Click on "Curve measure" to enter curve mode.
  2. Move the laser module to the left-top of the processing area, and click "Mark" beside "Vertex 1".

  1. Move the laser module to the right-bottom of the processing area, and click "Mark" beside "Vertex 2".
  2. When two vertices are set, click "Next". 

  1. Then you can set the measurement density to construct a model of the surface.

  1. When the steps above are complete, the curve model will show up on XCS.

Note: It takes a longer time to make a model of the curved surface with a higher density.
