Hi all we are BRAND NEW to this, and not sure what to look up - so please use VERY clear newbie language in your repsonse! :) Thanks in advance.

Our first couple of test runs with 3mm bass wood wend great, just basic little things. Then we tried to engrave on a handle of a hammer. All the settings seemed right, no warnings or anything. But the laser head made contact with the hammer and moved it right away so we shut it down. We tried putting the machine on the riser thinking that was the problem but it still didn’t work. We have also seen people putting in a hammer without the riser just fine. What are we missing? Is this a settings issue? Or does this have something to do with needing to adjust mirrors?
