Q1: What happens if the electrostatic protection sheet is placed face-down?
- Generally, the electrostatic protection sheet should be placed correctly on your xTool Electrostatic Mat with the "Up" label facing upwards (refer to the image below). However, if you accidentally place it with the back side facing up, there is no risk of damage to the devices or materials.
⚠️ Important Note: Avoid placing the electrostatic protection sheet horizontally on the Electrostatic Mat (i.e., rotating it 90 degrees). Since the protection sheet is not perfectly square, it will not fully cover the surface of xTool Electrostatic Mat, reducing its protective effectiveness.
Q2: Can I continue using my electrostatic protection sheet if it becomes discolored or deformed due to wear and tear?
- Discoloration: The sheet can still be used.
- Deformation: If the sheet is warped or misshapen, it is recommended to replace it with a new one.
Q3: Why do I hear a buzzing/hissing sound when I press the adsorption switch?
- This sound is normal. It is simply the sound produced when electrostatic adsorption is activated and materials adhere to the mat.
Q4: Why does my xTool Electrostatic Mat appear to have bulges or bumps? How do I fix it?
Cause
- Cold Storage: Bulges typically occur when the mat is stored in cold temperatures, below 5°C (41°F).
- Thermal Expansion and Contraction: Low temperatures cause thermal expansion and contraction. However, the adhesive layer limits contraction, leading to internal stress buildup and bulging.
Solution
- Room Temperature Adjustment: Allow the mat to rest at room temperature for 5–10 minutes. It will return to its normal state.
- No Functional Impact: Once the mat restores its normal state, rest assured that the functionality and normal operation of the mat remain intact.
Q5: Why does my Electrostatic Sheet become yellowish or blackish over time?
Cause
- Adhesive Discoloration: Over time, the adhesive on the Electrostatic Mat may darken to a yellowish or blackish hue due to continuous electrical current flow.
Solution
- Normal Occurrence: This discoloration is normal and does not affect the electrostatic mat's performance to adsorb materials or its normal function.
- No Action Needed: No corrective action is required.
Q6: Why does my electrostatic protection sheet have a strong odor?
Cause
- The protection sheet is made of PVC material, which contains chlorine (Cl), leading to a noticeable odor.
- This is a natural characteristic of PVC and does not indicate a defect.
Safety Assurance
- The product has passed the RoHS Certification (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and is safe for use. However, avoid smelling the sheet up close.
Q7: How do I clean my Electrostatic Protection Sheet and the white Electrostatic Film?
To clean both surfaces, use a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
Instructions:
- Electrostatic Protection Sheet:
- Spray a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol.
- Wipe the sheet clean.
- Wait at least 3 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate completely before using the sheet again.
- White Electrostatic Film:
- Disconnect the connection cable and remove your xTool Electrostatic Mat from M1 Ultra.
- Spray a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol and wipe the white film surface clean.
- Wait at least 3 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate completely before re-installing the mat.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: DO NOT apply alcohol directly to the white surface of the film. Always use a cloth.
Q8: What are the differences between xTool Electrostatic Mat and a traditional Cutting Mat included in xTool M1 Ultra package?
- No adhesive: xTool Electrostatic Mat uses static electricity instead of glue, eliminating paper tearing and adhesive residue.
- Easier cleanup & peel-off: Peel off your design and clean up after processing in a breeze.
- Durability: Static hold does not degrade over time, unlike sticky mats.
- Material limitations: Cannot secure fabrics, most leathers, or materials over 300 gsm.

Q9: With my xTool Electrostatic Mat, can I do without the Cutting Mat, fully replacing the latter?
- No, xTool Electrostatic Mat is not a complete substitute for a Cutting Mat.
- This is because it cannot securely adhere to fabrics, most types of leather, or heavyweight paper. These materials require the adhesive properties of a Cutting Mat. More precisely, they are not interchangeable.
Q10: What materials are compatible with the Electrostatic Mat?
Supported Materials:
- Papers (<300 gsm): Cardstock, kraft paper, textured paper, sticker paper, Infusible Ink paper, printer paper, photo paper, etc.
- Vinyls: Heat transfer vinyl (HTV), adhesive vinyl, printable vinyl, etc.
- Acrylic: Acrylic with protective paper backing.
Unsupported Materials:
- Fabrics.
- Most types of leather.
- Paper exceeding 300gsm in weight.
💡 Note: Materials that are not completely flat, like those on the curved surface, such as rolled vinyl, may not be securely held. It is advisable to use the included sticker to enhance the strength.

- Parameters vary depending on the material and processing mode.

- To avoid material waste, perform calibration and a small-scale test before starting a full project.

Q13: Why won’t the blade cut through my material when using xTool Electrostatic Mat?
Incomplete cutting may occur because the optimal parameters for the Electrostatic Mat mode can differ from those for a Cutting Mat. To address this issue, attempt the following:
- Parameter Settings: Select the recommended parameters in XCS specifically for the Electrostatic Mat mode.

- Material Flatness: Ensure the material is perfectly flat against the mat.
- Material Type: Cutting results can vary based on material type and surface flatness.

Q14: How long does the Electrostatic Protection Sheet last?
- Approximate Lifespan: 20 cuts in the same spot (A4 paper).
- Factors: Cutting frequency, blade pressure, and material type.
To Prolong Use:
- Rotate the mat to distribute wear.
- Replace the protective film if multiple areas are damaged.
Q15: Is xTool Electrostatic Mat compatible with third-party laser devices?
- No.
- xTool Electrostatic Mat is exclusively designed for use with xTool M1 Ultra.
Q16: Why is xTool Creative Space software unable to detect my xTool Electrosatic Mat?
- Update Software: Ensure XCS is v2.4.27 or newer.
- Install Plugins: After updating the software, follow on-screen prompts to update required plugins.
- Restart Devices: Reboot M1 Ultra and computer.
