Why S1's Red Cross Becomes Blurry after Using a Riser Base

Enhanced Light Scattering As the machine’s height increases, the light emitted by the red cross positioning light travels a longer distance. During this extended path, it encounters more particles like dust and microscopic debris in the air, which scatter the light. This scattering causes the light beams to lose their original alignment, spreading out rather than concentrating on the target, resulting in a blurry red cross. This phenomenon is similar to how car headlights appear diffused in foggy conditions due to light scattering by water droplets in the fog.

Light Attenuation As light travels further, its energy diminishes due to natural attenuation. With the riser base elevating the laser module, the light must cover a greater distance, leading to more significant energy loss. As the light weakens, the red cross appears dimmer and less defined, resulting in a blurry effect.

Is S1 suitable for use with electrical outlets that lack a ground connection?

No. It is not recommended to connect S1 to an ungrounded electrical outlet. For the safety of the user and to maintain stable machine performance, it is crucial that S1 is connected to a properly grounded outlet.

Maintenance frequency and operating guidelines

1. Protective Lens Cleaning Frequency1. Protective lens cleaning frequency

The protective lens at the bottom of the laser module requires regular cleaning to remove smoke residue, dust, and debris that can accumulate during operation. Failure to clean the lens can lead to reduced cutting/engraving power, poor results, and potential damage to the lens or laser module.

Recommended Cleaning Intervals (Based on Accumulated Processing Time):

  • 10W Blue Diode Laser Module: Clean after approximately 2 hours of use.
  • 20W Blue Diode Laser Module: Clean after approximately 1 hour of use.
  • 40W Blue Diode Laser Module: Clean after approximately 30 minutes (0.5 hours) of use.

Using Smart Air Assist: Employing Smart Air Assist significantly helps in keeping the lens cleaner for longer periods. While this may allow for slightly longer intervals between cleanings, it does not eliminate the need for regular inspection and cleaning. Always visually inspect the lens periodically, even when using the Smart Air Assist.

  • For the 2W Infrared (IR) Laser Module:
    • Specific cleaning frequency guidelines (like those for the blue diode lasers) are not provided for the 2W IR laser module. However, 2W IR laser module operates optimally within a temperature range of -10°C to +30°C (14°F to 86°F). So if you are operating the machine in an environment where the ambient temperature is 10°C (50°F) or lower, it is recommended to turn on the machine and let the IR laser module preheat for approximately 2 minutes before starting your first processing job. This warm-up period helps ensure stable power output and better processing results in cold conditions.

2.  Maximum daily operating time

There is no predefined limit on the maximum number of hours the machine can be used per day.
Continuous operation is permissible as long as the recommended maintenance schedule, particularly the protective lens cleaning frequency for the installed laser module (see  above), is strictly followed. Consistent cleaning is essential to prevent performance degradation and potential damage during extended use sessions.

3. Laser lens and lens protector replacement frequency

The laser lens and its protector in the laser module is a consumable item, but it does not need to be replaced routinely as part of a standard maintenance schedule.
Replacement is only required if the lens becomes physically damaged (e.g., cracked, chipped) or sustains permanent burn marks, clouding, or other damage that cannot be removed through the standard cleaning procedure.
Regularly cleaning the lens according to the recommended schedule is the best way to ensure its longevity and maintain optimal laser performance.
