Troubleshoot the Weak Performance of the Built-In Exhaust Fan for M1

Issue description

During laser processing, if you encounter ineffective ventilation of exhaust fumes, or worse still, exhaust fumes leaking from M1, refer to this guide for troubleshooting.

Things to know first

  1. The exhaust fan inside M1 is designed to operate only during laser processing.
  2. It automatically stops when processing is completed or when the lid is opened.
  3. When the M1 operates with a Riser Base, the enlarged working space may result in reduced exhaust efficiency.

How to fix it

#1 Adjust working time/connect with Smoke Purifier

  1. If excessive fumes are not vented quickly, consider extending the exhaust fan’s operating time.
    • To adjust the fan duration, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and navigate to the "Working parameters", where you can tinker up the working time.
  1. For enhanced fume extraction, connect a Smoke Purifier, if available, to M1.
  2. If this does not help resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.

#2 Clean/replace the exhaust fan

  1. Check if the fan is dirty, which can impede its efficiency.
  2. If so, clean it thoroughly or simply replace it with a new one.
  3. You may refer to the video tutorial below.
  4. If this does not help resolve the issue, move to the next step.

#3 Check the exhaust fan

  1. The unsatisfactory fan performance may indicate its breakdown.
  2. Connect your computer to M1 via USB to check the exhaust fan.
  3. Operate the exhaust fan by copy-pasting the links below on a browser or by following the links.
  • If the fan does not work as expected, please contact our Customer Service team for a replacement via email at support@xtool.com.

#4 Check the Smoke Purifier (if installed)

  1. When M1 is operating with a Smoke Purifier, disappointing ventilation performance may be pinned down to a blocked filter cartridge.
  2. Remove the cartridge to see if the performance is improved.
  3. If it does, it suggests the cartridge is clogged. Please replace the filter cartridge.
  4. If the steps above do not resolve the issue, please contact our Customer Service team for further assistance via email at support@xtool.com.
