The riser base with honeycomb panel is a useful accessory for xTool M1. With the honeycomb panel, it can improve the laser cutting performance of xTool M1. There are four honeycomb panel layers, which can be selected according to the thickness of the material.

Assemble the riser base

  1. Adjust the distance between the left plate and the right plate and align them according to the length of the light shielding plate. Then insert the light shielding plate into the rails on the left and right plates.
⚠️ Note: Pay attention to the directions when you place the plates. You can see the level on the right plate, and the position of the screws on the left plate. If the screw faces upward, the direction is correct.

2. Open xTool M1, loosen five screws on the base plate, take out the base plate, and close the lid.

  1. Put xTool M1 on the riser base.

⚠️ Note:

  • Mind your hands when placing the machine.
  • After placing xTool M1 on the riser base, you can push the left and right plates gently toward the center to make sure they are parallel to each other.

  1. Take out the light shielding plate and insert the base plate into the guide rails on the riser base.

Process cylindrical and irregular materials

To process cylindrical and irregular materials, xTool M1 should connect to the rotary attachment 2. RA2 is not included in the pack.

  1. Measure the perimeter of the material to be processed, determine the level of the honeycomb panel, and place it.

Before connecting RA2, measure the perimeter of the material and determine which layer the honeycomb panel is placed on. You can select the layer based on the following.

💡 Tips:

  • You can use the tape measure delivered with Rotary Attachment 2 (RA2) to measure the perimeter of a cylinder.

  • The level to be used is recommended based on laboratory tests and is for reference only.

Rotary Attachment 2

Rotary Attachment 2 Pro

0 ≤ L ≤ 88 - Place the honeycomb panel on Level α.

88 ≤ L ≤ 220 - Place the honeycomb panel on Level β.

220 ≤ L ≤ 299 - Place the honeycomb panel on Level γ.

0 ≤ L ≤ 142 - Place the honeycomb panel on Level β.

142 ≤ L ≤ 314 - Place the honeycomb panel on Level γ.

For example, L = 80 mm

⚠️ Push the honeycomb panel in along the guide rails until it reaches the position limiter.

2.  Put the light shielding plate back on the riser base.

3. Connect the connection cable to the port of RA2 and place RA2 on the honeycomb panel. Pass the other end of the cable through the gap at the bottom of the light shielding plate and connect it to the back of xTool M1.

Process flat materials

If you use xTool M1 with the riser base, it can process thicker materials.

To place the honeycomb panel on the level, you can refer to the table.

Processing type

Level

Thickness of the material

Laser engraving

Laser cutting

TOP

0 – 13 mm

Laser engraving

α

30 mm – 65 mm

Laser engraving

β

60 mm – 90 mm

Laser engraving

γ

90 mm – 120 mm

Measure the thickness of the material to be processed and place the honeycomb panel in xTool M1.

  • If the thickness is ≤ 13 mm, place the honeycomb panel on Level TOP.

Put the light shielding plate back on the riser base, open the lid of xTool M1, and put the honeycomb panel on Level TOP.

  • If the thickness is 13<H ≤ 120 mm, place the honeycomb panel on the other Level (α, β, or γ).

Push the honeycomb panel in along the guide rails until it reaches the position limiter. Then put the light shielding plate back on the riser base and place the material on xTool M1.

⚠️ Note: To ensure successful auto-focus, it's recommended that you choose a level to place your material, making the surface to be processed higher than the bottom of xTool M1 and meeting the condition: 0 < h ≤ 15 mm.

If the surface to be processed is lower than the bottom of xTool M1, auto-focus may fail. You can use the ruler for the focal length setting to determine the distance between the surface of the material and the top of the laser module. Select Open plane mode in XCS, and enter the distance value in it.

Use material pins

xTool material pins are designed to hold materials in place on honeycomb panels.

When you place the material on the honeycomb panel, insert the material pins into the cell of the honeycomb panel to prevent the material from slipping and shifting.

💡 Tips: Some cells of the honeycomb panel are not in standard size or may be distorted. Or there is a stiffener installed in the cell. When this happens, use other cells.

Use the blade cutting function

To use the blade cutting function, you need to install the baseplate back to xTool M1.

Pull out the light shielding plate and the base plate, open the lid of xTool M1, and put the base plate in from the xTool M1 above.

Use an air assist set

The riser base can be used with an air assist set. No air assist set is included in the pack.
